Final Conference: Innovation Networks in Tourism

The final conference of the project “Empowering Open Innovation Tourism Networks” brought together researchers, students, and tourism professionals to present the project’s key achievements, exchange knowledge, and highlight the role of open innovation tourism networks in supporting sustainable destination development.

The conference featured presentations on successful examples of tourism networks operating across the Visegrad region, including the Kraków Network, Crystal Valley, and Balatoni Kör. Participants also learned about the development of a collaborative, innovation-driven tourism network in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia. Through these case studies, the event demonstrated how cooperation among stakeholders can strengthen destination competitiveness, foster innovation, and create new opportunities for tourism development. The presentations also addressed the limitations and challenges faced by collaborative innovation networks.

In addition to reviewing the project’s results, partners discussed opportunities for future collaboration and the long-term sustainability of the established networks. As part of the social programme, participants joined the Night of Movement initiative and explored the tourism attractions and experiences of Veszprém and the Balaton region. The conference provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and strengthening international cooperation among project partners and other participants.
